Benefits of Preschool Gymnastics

There is no question about the benefits that come with regular exercise and participating in various sports. But some parents may wonder how old a child should be when they sign up for different activities. At Nashua School of Gymnastics, we offer preschool gymnastics classes for children as young as 18 months.

Programs We Offer

We have four programs, varying in age, length of the class, and frequency to cater to many preschool-aged children. Bitty Bugs (18 months – 3 years, 45 minutes) focuses on things such as improving motor skills and balance. In our Busy Bees class (3 years old, 45 minutes), we focus on improving strength and coordination while introducing beginner gymnastics. Happy Hoppers is the highest level of preschool classes and is one hour long. Here, students will further develop skills and learn how to behave in our higher level classes.

Like other sports, preschool gymnastics offers young children the chance to interact with children their age and develop valuable social skills. They learn how to work as a team, wait their turn, and how to follow instruction.

Why Gymnastics?

Gymnastics is unique because it offers an opportunity to practice a specific physical set of skills that are not always present in other sporting activities. Of course, they will develop coordination and gross motor skills in whatever action they choose. Sports can help build muscle and strengthen their respiratory system as well. In gymnastics, however, there is particular attention on core strength, balance, and focus.

Introducing your young child to sports like gymnastics also offers the opportunity for increased confidence, socialization, and independence. When children excel at a skill, their confidence can spill over into other aspects of life, making them more independent and willing to try new skills on their own.

At Nashua School of Gymnastics, we hope to cultivate students who are confident, healthy, and well-rounded. In our preschool gymnastics classes, we focus on developing not only gymnastics skills, but also overall social and cognitive skills as well.
